Often a philatelist collects the object of a study but does not necessarily need to study what they collect. In many occasions the collectors enjoy grouping stamps without caring about the little details. But if someone collecting some rare stamps or important stamps generally requires some knowledge of the stamps or we can say some philatelic knowledge. In many nations, a stamp collector is a special source of revenue. The stamps offered by theses countries far exceed the postal need of the nations.

About the study of postage stamp, first postage stamp was offered by Britain in year 1840 with the image of Queen Victoria and it was issued without perfection, and consequently had to be cut from the paper with corners in order to be used. And another thing is that collectors had aimed to have old stamps as new ones, and since no stamps are not offered so they would be tend to collect old stamps. Some collectors complain that there are a lot of new stamps to keep up with every year and so the flood seems to be increasing rather that decreasing.


The stamps may be collected very easily. There is no equipment needed in collecting stamps. Although the main group of collectors choose to invest in a few special things to better display, security and inspection of their stamps is always required. The simple and low cost method to store stamps is to put them in glassine envelopes and put them in a box which is free from humidity, light, and heat.
